HSBC Bank believes that art plays an important role not only in cultural development but also in the creation of a diverse, creative and dynamic society, which is why HSBC Bank is committed to promoting the arts in Turkey. HSBC undertakes projects in conjunction with non-government organizations as part of its goal to contribute to the conservation and development of Turkish art and culture.
“Different Points of View Enrich Our World” Photography Contest: In order to recognize and support young artists under 35 years old, HSBC conducted its first annual nationwide competition in photography field, in 2006.
Maurice Béjart, and his ensemble, the Béjart Ballet Lausanne: In cooperation with the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts, one of the world’s most famous choreographers, Maurice Béjart, and his ensemble, the Béjart Ballet Lausanne made a special performance as a part of the 2007 World Mevlana Year in Istanbul.
“Peace and Friendship” Themed Sculpture Competition: To continue the efforts for recognizing and supporting young artists who are under 35 years old; HSBC conducted a nationwide sculpture competition with the theme “Peace and Friendship” in 2007. The winning artwork is being displayed at the HSBC A.Þ. Headquarter building.
Night Shift: In collaboration with HSBC Premier, Istanbul Modern Museum hosted the “Night Shift” exhibition, which took place every Saturday from 1 December 2007 – 23 February 2008. The exhibition combined plastic arts and music. The “Nigh Shift” began with a tour of Temporary Exhibition and continued with musical performances. Instead of listening to the concert seated on chairs, like the classical sitting plan the attendees sat around tables. The night shift performances were composed of classical and jazz music, DJs and dance shows.
Mevlana Celalleddin-i Rumi Documentary: As a part of the Mevlana Year; the documentary which explains the Mevlana’s teachings and his life was showcased nationwide in 2008. After the success of the young director, Kürþat Kýzbaz’s documentary is expected to be seen in Europe movie theatres as well.
“In Search for Beauty in Diverse Cultures”: In collaboration with HSBC, the 10,000 year old story of the quest for beauty in Anatolia exhibited at the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts in 2008. From 5 different cities and 7 museums, 700 artifacts were jointly exhibited for the first time. The exhibition brings an insight into the way of life of the anterior cultures - their homes, belongings, drawings and paintings - and learn more about the richness that 10,000 years of history has bequeathed to the area.
“Seeing is Feeling” Photography Contest: To recognize and support young artists under 35 years old; a photography contested was organized with the “Seeing is Feeling” theme. In collaboration with Fotograevi, the top 10 finalist rewarded with 1000YTL each and the winner prize money was 15000YTL.
