Microcredit Social Involvement Project

HSBC is committed to being Turkey’s leader in microcredit. Microcredit loan facilities, which are distributed by non-profit NGOs and microcredit agencies, are available to those from poor districts of major cities, the countryside and economically deserving recent university graduates. HSBC’s microcredit project is designed to prevent poverty and to foster sustainable development.
HSBC began its microcredit operations with the Turkish Foundation for Waste Reduction in the Mamak district of the capital, Ankara, and in the Engiz district of the Black Sea city of Samsun with TOG and continued its efforts with MAYA in Istanbul. Up until 2010 HSBC is willing to make an investments of US$ 5 million over the course of five years. The HSBC’s microcredit project, nearly a million YTL worth credit has been used in 26 different cities.
