We volunteer for the future… with Environment.
The concept of sustainability in HSBC is not just about the way we do our jobs, but it’s also a very important part of our raison d'etre. Especially for the reason that we are the leading bank of emerging and international developed markets, we are fully aware of our global responsibility, which requires us to manage our partnerships in a way that enables creation of value in the areas of economic development, public welfare and environmental sustainability in the long term.
HSBC was the first bank to achieve carbon neutrality among 100 companies that was listed in Financial Times Sustainability Index 2005. We aim to control our affect on environment by making our operational areas as efficient as possible and integrating environmental measurements in all areas we operate. We focus on 4-year plans on usages of energy and water and waste and carbon management.
As HSBC Turkey, our performance is at best according to yearly environment, energy, waste and water savings numbers that are determined by the Group by country basis. Over 20 of our colleagues from Turkey took part in the project of “Climate Champions”, which is an important part of Climate Partnership project. HSBC Volunteers, a social responsibility club of HSBC employees, lead many awareness-raising activities across the country. In every headquarter, recycling for plastic, paper, metal and glass is being done. We regularly draw attention to paper waste by promoting e-statement.
