What is Secure Key, how does it work?

Secure Key is a device for creating a one-time password which enhances security when you log in HSBC Bank Retail Internet Banking. You may log in internet banking by entering a 6-digit password created by your Secure Key that can be turned on with a PIN code which would be defined by you only, after entering your internet banking user name and password.

Is Secure Key a paid service?

No. Secure Key is free of charge for the users of HSBC Bank Retail Internet Banking.

Do I have to be a customer of HSBC to have Secure Key?

Yes. Secure Key is a product exclusively designed for the users of HSBC Bank Retail Internet Banking.

Can I use Secure Key in ATMs or Telephone Banking?

No, any One-time Password you would create by your Secure Key will be valid for internet banking only.

Can I use my Secure Key intended for Retail Internet Banking for corporate internet banking as well?

No, please consult to the respective branch for the use of Secure Key in corporate internet banking.

When I start using my Secure Key, will I be able to continue logging in with SMS One-time Password or Mobile Signature?

Upon activating your Secure Key your option for logging in internet banking will be updated as “Only Secure Key”. In this case you will not be allowed to log in internet banking if you do not have your Secure Key with you. You may revise the option for logging in internet banking from the following screen: My Security Settings/Internet Banking Log-in Option.

I can not understand the information displayed on my Secure Key, what does it mean?

Some varied information may be displayed on the screen of your Secure Key which would indicate a particular situation applicable at that time. Please check the user’s guide on Secure Key page. I intend to create a PIN code for my Secure Key however the wording “not SAFE” is displayed on the screen, what should I do?

Your Secure Key does not confirm the new PIN you entered because it is predictable. You should define a PIN code which consists of 4-8 digits including no repeated or successive numbers. (ie. You should not use numbers such as 1234 or 1111)

I entered an incorrect PIN code / forgot my PIN code I created for my Secure Key, what should I do?

What should I do when I want to change my Secure Key’s PIN code?

Open your Secure Key with your existing PIN code. The wording “HSBC” will be displayed on the screen. Press the 8 button for 2 second. After the wording “NEW PIN” appears on the screen, enter your new PIN code you would define consisting of 4-8 digits to be used to turn on your Secure Key and press the red button on the left corner. When the wording “NEW PIN CONF” appears on the screen, insert your new PIN code once again in the same way.

What should I do when my Secure Key runs out of battery?

When your Secure Key runs out of battery, you can deliver it to the nearest HSBC Bank Branch. You may ask for a new Secure Key through HSBC Bank Telephone Banking (0850 211 0 111).

I have lost my Secure Key / my Secure Key is stolen, what should I do?

If you believe that you have lost your Secure Key or it is stolen, please call HSBC Bank Telephone Banking (0850 211 0 111) to disable it.
