What is Transaction Signing?

Transaction Signing is a new security step that controls and verifies transaction credentials by creating a one-time confirmation code for a single transaction via Digital Secure Key or Secure Key.
Transaction Signing is required for certain financial transactions and information updates made through HSBC Bank Retail Internet Banking and Mobile Banking application. It also increases security against possible fraud attacks which can be potentially caused by harmful softwares.

When / for which transactions do I use Transaction Signing?

Transaction Signing is required for unidentified fund transfers; unidentified transactions for paying off credit card debt; receiver identification and update transactions; standing order to be carried out for unidentified receiver, password creation for credit card and debit card.

On Mobile Banking applications, Transaction Signing is required for unidentified fund transfers; unidentified transactions for paying off credit card debt.

*In order to perform a money transfer to a non-defined payee via the HSBC Mobile Banking application, you need to access via a Secure Key device or use the one time password that you have generated with Digital Secure Key for the Mobile Banking access in a different mobile device.

Why do I have to create a password again even after I have logged into Retail Internet Banking with Secure Key / Digital Secure Key?

Secure Key / Digital Secure Key are security precautions designed to eliminate the risk of sim card copying or stealing of SMS One-Time Passwords via harmful software on phones while logging into Retail Internet Banking. 

Whereas, Transaction Signing controls and verifies transaction credentials by creating a one-time confirmation code for a single transaction via Digital Secure Key or Secure Key.

Why do I have to create a password again even after I have logged into Mobile Banking applications with Secure Key / Digital Secure Key?

Whereas, Transaction Signing controls and verifies transaction credentials by creating a one-time confirmation code for a single transaction via Digital Secure Key or Secure Key.

How can I use the Transaction Data Signing function with Secure Key?

  • Step 1: The first thing you should do to carry out transactions with Secure Key is to open your device by pressing the green button on it for 2 seconds and enter your Secure Key PIN code. If you enter the password successfully, the word HSBC will be displayed on the screen. After this word is displayed, press and hold the red button placed at the bottom left-hand corner of your Secure Key until " – " sign is displayed on the screen.
  • Step 2: When this " – "sign is displayed, enter the digits highlighted in red on the Internet Banking screen and press the red button again.
  • Step 3: A 6-digit code will be displayed on the Secure Key screen. You can perform your transaction by entering this Transaction Code in the related section on the Internet Banking screen.
  • Step 4: If you follow the directions on the Internet Banking page in which you carry out your transactions, it will make it easier for you to use the Transaction Signing function.


How can I use the Transaction Data Signing function with Digital Secure Key?

  • Step 1: Select "Transaction One Time Password".
  • Step 2: Enter the numbers on the transaction page
  • Step 3: Enter your Digital Secure Key password and click "Generate" button.
  • Step 4: Enter your 6 digit Transaction One Time Password into the related field on the transaction page

Can I use the "Transaction Code" created for several different transactions?

  • No, "Transaction Code" is a single-use code which is created for the related one transaction. You need to create separate "Transaction Codes" for each of your transactions that require Transaction Signing.

Can I use the same "Transaction Code" when transferring money to the same payee?

No, your "Transaction Code" is only created for that money transfer for the account number you have given, during the transaction. You have to create a separate Transaction Code for each of your transfers even to the same payee.

I cannot carry out any transactions with the "Transaction Code" I created on Secure Key; what should I do?

Please be sure to have created the Transaction Code as described in the section and to have entered the digits displayed into the Retail Internet Banking / Mobile Banking applications screen correctly. If the problem continues, please contact HSBC Bank Telephone Banking (0850 211 0 111).

I cannot carry out any transactions with the "Transaction Code" I created on Digital Secure Key; what should I do?

Please be sure to have created the Transaction Code as described in the section, and to have entered your Digital Secure Key password and the digits displayed into the Retail Internet Banking/Mobile Banking applications screen correctly. If the problem continues, please contact HSBC Bank Telephone Banking (0850 211 0 111).

My Retail Internet Banking password is blocked as I have entered the "Transaction Code" incorrectly. What shall I do?

For your safety, if you enter incorrect Transaction Code for Transaction Signing more than three times your Retail Internet Banking will be blocked for 15 minutes.Please try again after 15 minutes. If the problem continues, please contact HSBC Bank Telephone Banking (0850 211 0 111).

Can I carry out my Retail Banking transactions without using "Transaction Signing"?

The Transaction Signing application has been put into practice with a view of increasing our customers' transaction safety within the security policies of our Bank. If you prefer to carry out your money transfers quickly without performing any "Transaction Signing", you can create it as Payee by using Transaction Signing and carry out your transfer transactions more quickly than before.

Can I carry out my Mobile Banking transactions without using "Transaction Signing"?

The Transaction Signing application has been put into practice with a view of increasing our customers' transaction safety within the security policies of our Bank. If you prefer to carry out your money transfers quickly without performing any "Transaction Signing", you can create it as Payee by using Transaction Signing and carry out your transfer transactions more quickly than before.
